DSSGC currently offers a support system as members become part of a larger family, with friends, mentors, and advocates for them. It provides information and contacts to other supportive organizations and resources such as Parent to Parent, Birth to Three, Special Olympics, Occupational, Speech, and Physical Therapists. The DSSGC is expanding its membership base to reach out to families and individuals with Down syndrome within Grant County and who are currently without support.
The DSSGC Outreach Program also includes a New Parent Outreach Program for new parents, prospective parents, medical practitioners, and hospitals. We provide immediate contacts, resources, and education to families during pregnancy and after the birth of a child with Down syndrome. Our goal is to share the positive realities of life and with Down syndrome. We provide local mentors and timely personal support during this critical time and into the future.
The Outreach Program is conducted year round in Grant County, WA. It is funded through the net proceeds raised at our annual Columbia Basin Buddy Walk.
